Traffic Shift on Army Navy Dr. at South Joyce St.

Army Navy Drive - Phase 2

Beginning on March 9, and lasting for 8 to 12 weeks, traffic patterns on Army Navy Drive between South Joyce Street and South Lynn Street will shift in service of the Army Navy Drive Complete Street project.

  • Travel lanes will shift toward the center of Army Navy Drive
  • The south sidewalk will close for short intervals for sidewalk reconstruction; pedestrian and bike traffic will be maintained next to the sidewalk
  • The eastbound Army Navy Drive and South Lynn Street bus stop will temporarily close (sign up for ART Alert oks)

Looking Ahead

This traffic pattern will be in place until work is completed in late May before moving on to the next phase of work. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in spring of 2027. Learn more about the Army Navy Drive Protected Bike Lane project.

New Look for the Transitway Project Area

TETPC Artwork

We thank National Landing BID for their creative work to make the fencing surrounding the Transitway Extension project look good!

A Peek Behind the Curtain
The project team is working on utility and street level tasks on 12th Street South (Phase 2A of the project). After this work is done, crews will build the bus stop infrastructure in the bus-only lane, and power the new signals at South Eads Street and at South Fern Street.

Looking Ahead

The 12th Street South portion of the project builds on Phase 1, which was completed on Crystal Drive in 2023. When both phases are ready, the curbside lanes on the northbound side of Crystal Drive will turn into a bus-only lane. Learn more on the Transitway Extension project page.

15th Street/Clark-Bell Project on PBS Kids

PBS Kids - Functional Text

Look mom, we're educational! Astute viewers spotted the 15th Street/Clark-Bell Street Realignment project in the background of a PBS Kids Instagram about everyday functional text!

Construction areas are a great opportunity to highlight informational signs (functional text) to kids and a fun way to teach them to follow directions to keep them and others safe.

Right now, the functional text at the project tell drivers that South Clark Street is one-way only in the northbound direction. People walking through the area should stay out of the cordoned off work site.

About the Project

Currently the project is installing utilities below South Clark Street before building the new link between South Clark Street and South Bell Street, and will proceed to improvements on 14th Street South and build a shared use trail along Clark-Bell Streets between 12th Street South and 18th Street South. Learn more on the realignment project page.

Pile Driving Sounds for Long Bridge Project

Long Bridge Project

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority will be conducting pile testing along the length of the Long Bridge Project on the Potomac River between Ohio Drive and the George Washington Memorial Parkway. This work will begin in March and last about four months.

What to Expect

People near the project will hear intermittent loud noises during work hours. Trail users on the Mount Vernon Trail should heed all signage directing them through the project area.

CC2DCA Design Update

The Crystal City to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (CC2DCA) Multimodal connection reached its latest milestone with a first look at the base concept design and a brief public engagement on the direction of the design process.

Now we want to hear your thoughts on this direction to inform the work we do to complete preliminary design and engineering by Fall 2026.

In the latest CC2DCA video update, Project Manager Kyle Kling walks you through the base concept design and the process we undertook to develop it.

See the video and share your thoughts in the comment form today by visiting the project page.

This Weekend: Rail Closures at Crystal City Metro

Extended Blue Yellow Line Closures

Weekend rail service closures at Crystal City Metro continue this weekend through June 2026 in service of the Crystal City East Entrance construction project. Service will resume during the week.

Additional rail work by WMATA will also close rail service at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Metro and Potomac Yard Metro stations for three weekends in March and May.

Shuttles will replace trains during rail closures. WMATA has also added an express shuttle from Pentagon City Metro to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) during rail closures.
