Is exporting and importing Texture References for 3D and projected 2D textures supported from maya via AbcExport and AbcImport? I can't work out what attributes I need to flag at export time.

I've search these forums for Texture Reference and Position Reference but not found any mention of them.

Do these just end up being a string on your meshes?

If so you could use -attr/-attrPrefix or -userAttr/-userAttPrefix

No, they are reference *points*, needed if you dont want your
animated/deforming asset to swim through 3D textures/projections.

In Multiverse for Maya you can write ABC file with texture reference
points and read them back in Maya. Incidentally we also can store full
maya shading networks in the ABC files.

Yeah that's what I'm after. I take it you're mentioning Multiverse because they AbcExport doesn't support this?

No, as Paolo mentioned, its a per-point coordinate. They're the points of the *_reference object that gets created when you do Texturing > Create Texture Reference Object in Maya. I don't think they sit as an attribute on the object itself.

Yes, and also because of *a ton* of other good reasons ;-)
