This is one of the well-known verses of the Quran and is widely memorised and displayed in the Islamic faith.[4] It is said (ḥadīṯ) that reciting this verse wards off shayatin (devils)[5] and ʿafārīt (fiends).[6]
Ayat al-Kursi is regarded as the greatest verse of Quran according to the hadith.[10][11] The verse is regarded as one of the most powerful in the Quran because when it is recited, the greatness of God is believed to be confirmed. The person who recites this ayat morning and evening will be under protection of God from the evil of the jinn and the shayatin (devils); this is also known as the daily adkhar.[12]
It is used in exorcism, to cure and protect from jinn and shayatin (devils).[9] Because the Throne Verse is believed to grant spiritual and physical protection, it is often recited by Muslims before setting out on a journey and before going to sleep.[13][4][10][14] Reciting the verse after every prayer is believed to grant quick entry to paradise without any delay.[15][16]
allāhu lā ilāha illā huw, al-ḥayyul-qayyụm, lā ta`khużuhụ sinatuw wa lā na`ụm, lahụ mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ, man żallażī yasyfa'u 'indahū illā bi`iżnih, ya'lamu mā baina aidīhim wa mā khalfahum, wa lā yuḥīṭụna bisyai`im min 'ilmihī illā bimā syā`, wasi'a kursiyyuhus-samāwāti wal-arḍ, wa lā ya`ụduhụ ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwal-'aliyyul-'aẓīm
"Apabila kamu hendak tidur, maka bacalah ayat Kursi dari awal sampai akhirnya; yaitu ayat Allaahu laa ilaaha illa huw al hayyul qayyum". Kemudian syaitan itu berkata kepadaku: "Niscaya penjagaan Allah senantiasa menyertaimu, dan syaitan tidak akan sanggup mendekatimu sampai waktu pagi".
Salah satu waktu yang dilarang untuk membaca Ayat Kursi adalah saat mengantuk. Hal ini tidak hanya pada saat membaca Ayat Kursi saja, tetapi juga membaca ayat Al-Qur'an lainnya. Hal ini bertujuan untuk menjaga kemungkinan kesalahan membaca sehingga dapat mengubah atau merusak arti bacaan Al-Qur'an.
Ayat kursi dapat diibaratkan menjadi kunci, yakni dapat membuka pintu rezeki di dunia dan di akhirat. Allah Swt juga menjamin rezeki bagi hamba-Nya yang membaca Ayat Kursi. Bukan hanya soal rezeki saja, tetapi Allah Swt juga menaikkan derajat hamba-Nya.

Allahu la ilaha illahuwa alhayyu alqayyoomu la ta/khuthuhusinatun wala nawmun lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi man tha allatheeyashfaAAu AAindahu illa bi-ithnihi yaAAlamu mabayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wala yuheetoonabishay-in min AAilmihi illa bima shaawasiAAa kursiyyuhu assamawati wal-ardawala yaooduhu hifthuhumawahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheem
"Allah - there is no God except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is presently before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great."
