MathType is a interactive equation editor for creating mathematical expressions. It is available on the Windows and Macintosh platform and works with most word processing, presentation and publishing applications.

After Installing MathType, you will be able to use it from within Microsoft Word. The MathType tab is added to the Word ribbon and contains tools for inserting, converting and exporting mathematical expressions. The basic concept is to type the text of your document using Word, and type the math with MathType.

I use Mathtypeto insert mathematical equations in MS world.
Today I understood that there's no built-in symbol for $\mathscr(F)$ in MathType so I searched for a way of using LaTex codes in MathType. here and here and on this page, it says that it's possible for MathType 6 users and later to use $TEX$ in MathType editor.
But whenever I try, I see that TEX codes won't be translated and nothing happens. The version of MathType installed on my windows 7x64 is 6.9a. Is there anything that I should do?

MathType is a graphical editor for mathematical equations, allowing entry with the mouse or keyboard in a full graphical WYSIWYG environment.[2] This contrasts to document markup languages such as LaTeX where equations are entered as markup in a text editor and then processed into a typeset document as a separate step.

By default, MathType equations are typeset in Times New Roman, with Symbol used for symbols and Greek. Equations may also be typeset in Euclid, a modern font like Computer Modern used in TeX, and this is included with the software. Roman characters (i.e. variable names and functions) may be typeset in any font that contains those characters, but Greek and symbols will still use Times or Euclid.

Equatio was meticulously crafted with the principles of Universal Design for Learning at its core, setting it apart from MathType. While MathType caters to dedicated users, it demands a certain level of math language proficiency.

Equatio, on the other hand, offers a variety of input methods to suit every student's learning preferences, including math-to-speech, speech input, visual aids, handwriting, and prediction. We believe in giving students choices, and Equatio does just that.

With Equatio, you have the option to create lessons with simple to complex equations without the need for intricate LaTeX or TeX formats.

Unlike MathType, which relies on user-generated information, Equatio's built-in prediction simplifies the equation creation process, ensuring accuracy without the steep learning curve.

Equatio's intuitive technology makes it easy for students to get started immediately with their math assignments.

The Texthelp Academy offers a wealth of videos, how-to articles, and guides right inside Equatio, complementing the learning process. We care about students and educators, and we're here to support you.

MathType does not require a product key for installation. Upon first launch, you will have an opportunity to begin a 30-day trial or to enter a purchased product key. If you decide to purchase MathType, you can use the Order MathType command within MathType itself to purchase a product key. You can also visit the Wiris website to learn more about MathType.
