The Albineers’
Rendezvous at Saysutshun (Newcastle Island) Provincial Park is coming fast - five days away. This is just a reminder in case you missed my original message. Seven boats and one 'wheeler' are coming as far as we know.
For those who like the blues, there is a great
Blues Festival across the water from Saysutshun at Maffeo-Sutton Park - a
boat ride away on the foot ferry.
The plan is to get together starting late
afternoon Sunday August 13th or whenever you arrive to mid-day Tuesday August 15th or whenever you leave. These
dates will avoid the local weekend crowds and provide a better
opportunity for finding dock space or a vacant mooring buoy. There is
also room to anchor beyond the buoys. There are no reservations -
moorage is on a first come/first served basis.
More information on Saysutshun Provincial Park is on the
park website. Anyone who is adventurous can dinghy over to the
Dinghy Dock Pub for a meal or two.
Coming on wheels? Take the
foot-ferry
to the island from Maffeo-Sutton Park in downtown Nanaimo. There is
also the Brechin Boat Launch for anyone who wants to launch nearby.
Let's all have dinner together on Monday evening starting around 5:30 at the picnic tables near the head of the docks.
