Hi all,

This is Mike on Caprice with a very important request. I'm most reluctant to let political issues affect our activities but these are dire and threatening times.

Please do not attend the meet down at Roche Harbor this year. And please consider taking it off of our schedule.

As you know the U.S. government is regularly insulting and threatening all Canadians. The residents of the San Juan islands are almost universally opposed to these dreadful attacks. I feel that visiting the states during this awful time will send a message that things are normal and they are NOT! And your loonies won't go very far just now.

Caprice will be visiting B.C. waters this year. Spending as much money as we can and apologizing. We will not be attending Roche Harbor.

Thank you for your forbearance and please don't beat me up for the retarded actions of the U.S. government. We love Canada!

I understand where Mike is coming from - the more other nations make it clear that current USA policies are abhorrent the more likely they are to change.

That said: Please understand that if Canadian boats do come to visit you will be welcomed with open arms just as we have always been welcomed in Canada.

Yes. Absolutely! You will be most welcome if you do venture South.

If anyone, be it Yanks or Canadians, ventures to Lopez Island, especially to MacKaye Harbor, you will be offered laundry, showers and rides to the village. As well as a selection of interesting walks and not too strenuous scrambles.

If you find yourself in need of boat help, I have a machine shop and electronics operation awaiting visitors. Anyone for a ride in a steam launch?
