Hi Mike,
We're in Halfmoon Bay and have our boat moored in Secret Cove.
On the north end of Redrooffs Road in Halfmoon Bay, there's Coopers Green Park/boat launch. It's free, and theres a gravel parking lot on Redrooffs Road (away from the actual launch) Higher tides are better as it flattens out lower down the ramp. It is a little exposed to SE wind/sea, but if there is a log tower tied up due to weather just outside of the ramp, that helps! There is no wharf along side, but the government dock is across the bay...about a 20min walk.
Further north would be Buccaneers Marina. It is a pay ramp...a little tight with rock breakwater on one side and marina slips on the other and you have to back out for a distance, but it's sheltered. We had our A25 hauled & launched there. They have parking there (also pay). I would not turn in at the sign...keep going down San Souci Road and enter at the lower gravel driveway along the waters edge as the paved driveway is STEEP and oriented the wrong direction for launch. They have a fuel dock right there! Call them for pricing.
In Pender Harbour at Madeira Park, there's a free comminuty launch "downtown". It's good and the government dock is right there, and the village is there with grocery & liquor, and drug stores...fuel dock across the harbour in Hospital Bay. Parking may be an issue, maybe a call to Madeira Marina would secure something.
There's also Pender Harbour Resort with a ramp, but I don't know much about it...worth a call?
Also Backeddy's Resort/Marina further up in Egmont, but again, I don't know much about it...worth a call.
Hope that helps.
PS, anyone know if our A25 Tainui II (Peter Mugford's old boat) is still out there? (We sold to someone in Delta)
