sinh x is defined as (e^x - e^-x)/2

in words- e power x - e power -x.

Simmilarly, cos hx is defined as (e^x + e^-x)/2

cosh^2x - sinh^2x = 1

First Derivative of sinh x is cosh x.
Second Derivative of sinh x is sinh x.

Try to draw the graph of sinh x using this information.

and for those who like pronouncing; syensch, cosh...
 
so after drawing the graph (do it on the computer, of course...) one must be able to guess the reason behind the name of the function...
