Lord Kelvin once said, “There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now, all that remains is more and more precise measurement.” It was a while before people realised that this was not true; a while longer before people realised it never would be. There is a thing inside us that drives us to know. It can be found in our big laboratories, in our small ones, in our homes and in children. It is that which forces us to look out to the places we cannot reach, the things we cannot see and the things we cannot do.

It will change the way we perceive, it will paint our world; and therefore be at the vanguard of our culture, changing the way we live, continuously, forever. It is this that spawns the grand research project, the odd thought experiment and even the trinkets that will decide how tomorrow is spent.

At SciFest we bring to the fore the ideas among us, the same drive that tugs at our hearts to make things better, to take us places we have never been before and the eye for beauty that made the days of Pericles and of Vikramaditya's definitive. We invite you to celebrate with us the window through which we may envision our future.
