Hi All,

An instructor is doing curriculum development for “pre-upgrading courses that help learners bridge gaps in their grade 6-9 literacy skills”.  I have shared BC resources with him, and he has reviewed documents from the Foundational Learning Centre (Bow Valley), but we were both wondering if there were any existing OER that involve Alberta and/or indigenous perspectives.    Alternatively, we’d be interested in developing this type of material in partnership with other institutions, if you know of a program or individual who is also working in this area and would be willing to open license the final product.

Cheers,

Jessica

Oki, Amba’wastitch, Danit’ada, Tân’si, Hello. I would like to acknowledge that SAIT is situated on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, which, today encompasses the Indigenous people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta: the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina, the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, the Northwest Métis Homeland – Region 3.  The City of Calgary is part of a region that the Blackfoot tribes of Southern Alberta described as Moh’kinsstis, meaning ‘Elbow,’ in reference to its location at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers.
