SOCIAL JUSTICE AND THE FAMILY: Connecting the dots between poverty,
justice and strong families

Speakers include:

Dr. Gabor Maté is a doctor in Vancouver. Currently he is the staff
physician at the Portland Hotel, a residence and resource centre for
the people of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. The author of four
books, including Hold on to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More
Than Peers. He is widely recognized for his unique perspective on
Attention Deficit Disorder, and will discuss parenting, attachment,
and the daycare debate.

Kay S. Hymowitz, fellow at the Manhattan Institute, writes extensively
on education and childhood in America. She is the author of the new
book Marriage and Caste in America: Separate and Unequal Families in a
Post-Marital Age. She examines the breakdown of marriage in the United
States and how it threatens the nation's future. Marital breakdown has
created "two Americas": one marriage-minded, one not; one economically
successful, the other perpetually struggling.
