This webinar series offers additional learning opportunities on climate planning in NYS and is open to all local government representatives — not just those registered for the in-person summit in June.

This webinar will feature three organizations that facilitate opportunities for local government staff to connect and collaborate with one another on climate and sustainability initiatives. Panelists will provide an overview of their organization and share information on how communities can get involved.

Featured organizations:

  • New York Meeting of Sustainability Staff (NY MOSS) is a new peer-organized professional network for municipal sustainability practitioners across NYS to learn and collaborate on local sustainability challenges. From villages to counties, NY MOSS’s members are working together to build a hub for connection, support and growth. Visit www.nymoss.org to learn more.
  • The Sustainable Libraries Initiative (SLI) provides library leaders with a proven path forward to co-create libraries and communities that will thrive in the coming years. The Sustainable Library Certification Program and the SLI community of practice focuses your leadership to enable your library, and ultimately your community, to become more environmentally sound, socially equitable and economically feasible. Visit www.sustainablelibrariesinitiative.org to learn more.
  • Pace University’s Land Use Law Center is one of the country’s preeminent organizations dedicated to fostering the development of sustainable communities through the promotion of innovative land use strategies and collaborative decision-making techniques. Through its award-winning Land Use Leadership Alliance (LULA) Training Program, the Center puts needed technical and process tools in the hands of local leaders whose decisions create the land use patterns and blueprint for future development and conservation. Visit www.law.pace.edu/landuse to learn more.

Plus – Highlight on the New York State Adaptation and Resilience Plan (NYSARP): Staff from DEC's Office of Climate Change will share the latest updates on the development of this statewide planning initiative and share how you can help inform the state's direction for advancing climate adaptation and resilience.

Representatives from every local government in NYS are welcome and encouraged to register for this webinar, regardless of CSC participation or experience level with climate action planning.

Missed Webinar 2? A recording of Webinar 2, which provided an overview of statewide climate policies, plans, and programs, will be posted to the Summit website here
