Dear Clean Energy Advocates,

Please join us this Thursday Feb 19 at 6:30 pm.  Our featured guest speaker will be David VanLuven, Town Supervisor of Bethlehem, who will discuss the sustainability initiatives that recently earned Bethlehem the coveted Silver Climate Smart Communities Certification - the highest sustainability level awarded by the NYS DEC.  Only 24 municipalities statewide have achieved this recognition over the past decade.  You'll hear about the Town's thoughtful array of efforts including those that promoted energy efficiency, new sources of clean energy, and greenhouse gas reductions.  Find out what was accomplished and what's yet to come!

  • Built a 3.75 MW town-owned solar farm and installed solar panels on Parks & Rec administration building
  • Updated Town code to make solar installation easier
  • Improved and expanded infrastructure to support walking and cycling
  • Expanded the town's compost facility - the only large-scale facility for food scraps composting in the region
  • Opened food scraps drop spots in the community
  • Conserved nearly 700 acres of open space
Hope you can join us!
