There is absolutely beautiful wood to be picked up on 1498 Solano here in Albany. The wood is Eucalyptus nicholii or peppermint eucalyptus. It can be used in the landscape, for a chair, for a sculpture, use your imagination. This wood is a beautiful dark orange, and dries into some interesting shapes. We have several tons of it there for the pick up.

Yes, It is very good burning wood. Tony
Hi David,
The owners’ of the building applied for removal, and due to the fact that there had been at least two root prunings and repair of sidewalk in the past, it was approved for removal. I did have some concerns on the tree. It had a lean over the street, the base of the tree was being girdled by the curb and the sidewalk concrete. I agree that it was a solid tree, but the consequences of a tree failure would have been very significant – people, vehicles, buildings. There are similar large Eucalyptus nicholii (peppermint eucalyptus) along Solano. There are some leaning (by church on the corner), and others in poor health. I am looking at 1492-1494 Solano, and will prune out the deadwood but that tree does not look healthy. The wood is very good, nice color; it does shrink and separate with drying. Good firewood, although we do not encourage that usage.
