I just learned about this through our neighborhood newsletter:

The State of California has started a new program to provide up to $3,000 to retrofit your house’s foundation against earthquakes. The Brace & Bolt program is expanding to our zip code in Berkeley/Albany on January 1, 2016. They have tried to make it as painless as possible.
