It looks like the project has just started automatically closing issues just because they haven't been worked on for 12 months? 

That's really disappointing and discourages reporting issues in the first place. What's the problem with keeping a ticket open for bugs which still exist?

Hi Oliver,

I get why you're concerned about the recent issue closures. We're not
against re-opening issues which remain in the repository's history. If
there are legitimate bugs or issues shouldn't be considered as stale,
please let us know by leaving a comment on the issue.

The high volume of open issues was making it increasingly difficult to
manage and prioritise our development work. Closing the inactive
issues will allow us to work more effectively with a manageable,
actively maintained set of issues that reflect our current focus. It's
important to note that closing these issues doesn't mean that they're
forgotten or unimportant, as they may well inform future development
as and when they align with future development priorities or secured
funding.
