Upgrade path from 0.38.4.0

We are biting the bullet and updating core for the first time in years. Thankfully there isn’t much in our theme (compared to others).

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best upgrade route? I’m aware we will need to upgrade our OS as well as upgrade from Ruby 2.6. I appreciate we might need to stagger the upsurge, but it would be good to upgrade in as few steps as possible.

Hi Ben,

IIRC you should be able to skip 0.39.x and 0.40.x.

I would look at doing the upgrade in these steps:

1. get on to Debian Bullseye with Ruby 2.7.x then upgrade to Alaveteli 0.41.x

2. upgrade to Alaveteli 0.42.x

3. upgrade to Ruby 3.2.x, Alaveteli 0.43.x

4. upgrade to Alaveteli 0.43.x

5. upgrade to Alaveteli 0.44.x

6. upgrade to Alaveteli 0.45.0.0

7. upgrade to Ruby 3.4.x, Alaveteli 0.45.3.x
