Hello,I'm getting ready to head north for a microadventure, north to one of Scotland's wildest areas. It's a place so wild you cannot access it by road. But there is still a pub! (I'll send a book to the first few people who identify where this Instagram picture is and email me the answer and their address).
I'm doing a piece for BBC Radio about microadventures. Last week the microadventure idea even made it into the austere pink pages of The Financial Times...
We are only weeks away from the summer solstice. This seems a perfect chance for me to encourage people to try a microadventure of their own. If you have never slept in the wild under the stars before then this is your opportunity!
I have teamed up with brands such as Trek Bikes, howies, Mountain Equipment and Osprey Packs to offer some brilliant incentives to get out and give this a go.
On June 21st we want as many people as possible to try a microadventure.
Here's the plan:
- Grab a friend, a colleague, a family member or go on your own.
- After work head for the countryside by bike, on foot, by train, canoe or however you like.
- Sleep out under the stars and have fun.
- That's it!
- Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools.
If you are planning a microadventure for the solstice why not combine it with raising money for charity? www.summerofadventure.co.uk challenges you to raise just £100 for Hope and Homes for Children...
The Night of Adventure series is returning later this year. Here are a few dates for your diary. Tickets will be on sale closer to the time. We are always on the look-out for quality, original speakers for the event so please get in touch if you can recommend anybody.
- Manchester: September 30
- Edinburgh: September 2
- London: September 16
Cheers,
Alastair
