I just shared this with another group but it is highly relevant to most of the groups involved this time around.
This is a fairly simple and straightforward matter once you have addresses you want to look up:
http://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search?q=129%20W%2053rd%20Ave%20Anchorage%20AK&addressdetails=1&format=json
That will give you a lat and long for 129 W 53rd Ave, Anchorage AK.

For a faster and less limited Nominatim server.. use
http://open.mapquestapi.com/nominatim/v1/search
which is offered by MapQuest and is VERY fast and uses the same data.
You can do reverse geocoding as well given a pair of lat and long. The documentation covers this as well.
