A VICTORY IN THE HOUSE FOR THE ARCTIC REFUGE

Thanks to your unrelenting emails and phone calls to Congress, a strong
coalition of House Democrats and moderate Republicans have continued to
oppose Arctic Refuge drilling. The effect of their steadfast
opposition was seen yesterday, March 29, when Budget Committee Chairman
Jim Nussle (R-IA) and his committee were forced to develop a budget
resolution that did NOT include Arctic Refuge drilling.

While today's news is a definite victory for Arctic advocates
everywhere, we must proceed with caution. As we have seen in the past,
drilling-obsessed politicians will try anything to force Arctic Refuge
drilling through Congress. Therefore, it is very important that we
contact our Representatives today and encourage them to oppose any
efforts by pro-drilling members of Congress to sneak Arctic drilling
back into the House budget.

to send your Representatives an email. Urge them to keep the budget
clean by opposing any attempts to open the door to drilling in the
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Maintaining a steady stream of emails and phone calls to our members is
the only way to ensure a clean budget and prevent drilling in the
Refuge.
