The Senate will vote today on the Cantwell Amendment to take Arctic
drilling out of the budget! For the Great Lakes states, the only
Senator we have been leaning on is Dewine - who came out a few weeks
ago against the budget reconciliation, saying he'd vote against a
budget that allows Arctic drilling. But if you can make a quick call
to your Senator's office, just to be on the safe side and/or make him
sweat if he typically allies with the Bush Administration, please do!
The switchboard number is (202) 224-3121.

The House is still scheduled to vote on their budget reconciliation
bill on Thursday, November 10th. Many environmental groups will be
running ads, so if you come across one in print, then please cut it out
and send it to your Representative's office, with a note asking that
s/he vote against a budget that will drill in the Arctic Refuge.

Ad or no, please make one more effort to call, write a letter, or
better yet...drop by the district office to hand deliver an ad, a
letter, or even just a penny - to signify that you'd rather give your
penny now and protect the Arctic than get a penny a gallon relief in
gas prices, 20 years from now (stat comes from the Energy Information
Administration).

Thanks for all your hard work to save the Arctic! Help us make one
last push!!!!
