The Online Chemical Modeling Environment is a web-based platform that aims to automate and simplify the typical steps required for QSAR modeling. The platform consists of two major subsystems: the database of experimental measurements and the modeling framework. A user-contributed database contains a set of tools for easy input, search and modification of thousands of records. The OCHEM database is based on the wiki principle and focuses primarily on the quality and verifiability of the data. The database is tightly integrated with the modeling framework, which supports all the steps required to create a predictive model: data search, calculation and selection of a vast variety of molecular descriptors, application of machine learning methods, validation, analysis of the model and assessment of the applicability domain. As compared to other similar systems, OCHEM is not intended to re-implement the existing tools or models but rather to invite the original authors to contribute their results, make them publicly available, share them with other users and to become members of the growing research community. Our intention is to make OCHEM a widely used platform to perform the QSPR/QSAR studies online and share it with other users on the Web. The ultimate goal of OCHEM is collecting all possible chemoinformatics tools within one simple, reliable and user-friendly resource. The OCHEM is free for web users and it is available online at
Which ITA Specialty Class did you take and when did you take it?
I took the 2-week Teaching English Online Specialty Class (TEO) in October 2021, shortly after completing my 11-week online TEFL course.
What motivated you to enroll in this Specialty Class?
I was teaching English online classes during the pandemic and realized that it was very different (and even intimidating, well, at least for me) compared to teaching in a physical classroom. Hence, as soon as I saw this specialty class, I knew I needed to try it out and I am glad that I did so.
If you teach English online, where do you teach from?
I am currently staying with my parents in India and teaching English online from home. Prior to the pandemic, I was teaching English in Central Asia, and I plan to move abroad early next year. I am inclined towards Latin America, or I might even go back to Kyrgyzstan again, probably for a few months.
What company do you teach English online with?
As of now, I am working for a language school in Mexico, named Escuela Mexicana de la Lengua Extranjera y Nacional (EMLEN). However, I am planning to work as a teacher in various facilitated marketplaces and online schools soon.
Tell us about your online teaching job!
My current job entails teaching academic English to teens and adults in order to prepare them for Cambridge First and Cambridge Proficiency, respectively. All of my students are Mexican. I work for 28 hours every month, and I have the liberty to set my own hours and change them. My contract length is for one year, which can be renewed upon request. I started working for 6 USD/hr., but after 3 months I was earning 10 USD/hr. (excluding commissions). I am teaching two groups of Cambridge First band one group of Cambridge Proficiency at the moment. My next goal is to work for about 100 hours a month and earn about 1000 USD/mo.
