Alamocoders is pretty done for.  I'm not sure any of the former directors have time or the location (for example I live in Houston now).

That would be a correct statement. I would say that while time was a big thing, the biggest factor was attendance and apparent lack of interest from the community. Obviously our focus wasn't just microsoft topics, but anything that would make you a better programmer.

Glad to know about the new group starting up.

Well there is geekdom.  its a collaborative space in downtown that allows for this sort of thing.  They have group meetings, presentations, and a big community.
