Alamitos Neighborhood Library to Undergo Restoration and Regular Maintenance

Branch will temporarily close March 4-22

Long Beach, CA— Long Beach Public Library’s Alamitos Neighborhood Library (1836 E. 3rd St.) will undergo restoration and standard maintenance as part of a Measure A improvements project to extend the useful life of the facility, optimize energy and operational efficiencies, and improve the user experience.

As part of this project, the location will temporarily close March 4-22 for regular maintenance, which includes termite treatment and lead abatement. The Alamitos branch will reopen and resume normal operations on Tuesday, March 25; the branch is not open Sundays and Mondays per its normal operating schedule.

During the temporary closure, residents are encouraged to visit other Long Beach Public Librarylocations for their reading, research and community needs. Digital resources, including e-books and online databases, will remain available through the Long Beach Public Library website.

After completion of the termite treatment and lead abatement work, restoration of the library’s original doors and windows will begin. While this work occurs, the library will remain open and operational to the public. The full construction period for door and window restoration is expected to last approximately five months.

This project is funded by Measure A, a Long Beach ballot initiative approved by voters in 2016 as a 10-year sales tax to support public infrastructure and public safety services, which was extended indefinitely by voters in 2020. More information about Measure A can be found at longbeach.gov/measurea. The project is also part of Elevate ’28, a comprehensive five-year infrastructure initiative designed to revitalize parks and community facilities while enhancing accessibility and multimodal transportation throughout Long Beach.
