It hurts my heart to see this beautiful, dignified boat waiting to be saved. I would save her myself if I could:

1975 Alajuela 38, Hull #29 “Omo Chalandur”

·       Lien sale boat in SF Bay Area, and neglected as you’d expect for a lien sale boat

·       But still a solid bluewater design that needs to be saved!

·       Inside in good condition

·       Needs lots of work outside

·       Not hauled for many years, heavy growth on bottom (recent diver report available)

·       Wood rot in bowsprit, samson post, winch bases, tiller cheeks, and deck box.

·       Needs rigging

·       Largely original (no furling, no self-tailing winches)

·       Needs engine work to run (turns, not seized) – original 40 hp Pisces (Isuzu)

·       No teak decks

·       No obvious leaks

·       Pullman-berth with head in the bow

·       Custom storage and pull-down workbench in the salon

·       Dickinson Antarctic diesel heater

·       $4,500 OBO

..and special thanks to Doug Iles. He showed me his beautiful "Pelican," which is now my vision for what a well-loved and properly outfitted Alajuela 38 can be. Doug's stewardship of that fine vessel is inspiring.
