Dolfinite as most of us know was used in the original construction of the
Alajuelas and is highly recommended by Rod. Its greatest virtue over other
bedding compounds being that it is so easily cleaned up - and being so, was
liberally applied by the construction crew. I have had great results with it.
Now to the current coincidence. I had need to temporarily bed an item for
fitting and aesthetic review. I didn't want to use Dolfinite, because it is a
bit pricey. I thought about the painter's putty. It, too, doesn't harden and is
easily cleaned up. So, I got it out and it served the purpose nicely. Then I
noticed:
Painter's putty looks like Dolfinite.
Painter's putty smells like Dolfinite.
Painter's putty feels like Dolfinite.
Painter's putty, when it sits in the can, develops a oil-like fluid on its top
like Dolfinite.
Painter's putty spreads like Dolfinite.
Painter's putty stays flexible like Dolfinite.
Painter's putty cleans up like Dolfinite.
So, my question: is painter's putty Dolfinite, but at one-fourth the price?

You are SUCH a GEEK!!! : )

I must also express a trend toward ‘geekness’. I still have a circular slide rule that is in a small wooden box with a sign on it’ in case of power failure-break glass’.
