I think we’d all agree that we are merely custodians of some magnificent vessels and that there is nothing more joyous, despite the sadness of its loss, than to pass our charges onto another in better condition than we received them.
These Alajuelas have outlasted a number generations and hopefully will outlast a good few more.
We sold our Alajuela 33 ‘Mico’ almost a decade ago after cruising through the Pacific, Coral Sea and Papua New Guinea.
Previous owners have sailed her from the US, across the Pacific to Japan, New Zealand and around Australia.
We now keep in contact with her new owner Greg and have had the privilege of meeting up with both him and Mico at a number of anchorages up here on the Great Barrier Reef after crossing over to the dark side and now cruising in our Simpson catamaran - Ladybird.
Mico’s still a beautiful vessel and has kept both ourselves and many others safe and secure at sea through countless ocean crossings.
I’m sure Pelican has and will continue to do the same :)
Fair winds.
