Hindu Rastriya Yuva Sangh has called an indefinite bandh in Birgunj from Sunday to protest against the murder of its president Kashinath Tiwari Saturday evening.

Normal life in and around Birgunj has been adversely affected due to the bandh. Marketplaces and factories have remained closed.

Transportation within the city and from and to Birgunj have also been obstructed.

Schools and colleges have also remained closed today. The Sangh has said, it will allow the academic institutions to open from tomorrow.

The Sangh has demanded the guilty be arrested and brought to books immediately, deceased Tiwari be declared a national martyr and the family be provided appropriate compensation. Sangh cadres are staging demonstrations in various parts of Birgunj. They had organised a motorcycle rally after the incident Saturday evening.

Tiwari was shot at near Ashok Batika in Ward No. 13 of Birgunj sub-metropolis by motorcycle-borne assailants. He died while undergoing treatment at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital.

Police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder. They have not disclosed the name of the arrested.

Hindu Rastriya Yuba Sangh was involved in countering the indefinite general strike of Unified CPN (Maoist) in early May, when they had attacked and vandalised one of the camps where the Maoist cadres had been staying. nepalnews.com
