Yay for attendee email list! Since we have contact with our victims, er, attendees, I can set up an office hour on Sunday afternoon/evening, if there are no objections. What are others thinking in terms of office hour schedules?

Do we know how many people aren't able to come on Thursday? I think it is fine if you want to set up office hours then, but I don't want us to all set up office hours if they aren't actually necessary and I tend to think that if someone is having trouble, it would be better for them to come on Thursday night in person if that is at all possible for them.

I'm not sure how many, though I'm assuming that some people's travel schedules will have them coming in late on Thursday evening. Having office hours on Sunday won't be a big stretch for me since I'll be chained to my computer for most of the day doing other work.

Though, we can always through out the question to the group to see if folks need help before Thursday evening due to travel schedules, etc. I can also throw out a feeler to the group to see if there's any interest in having something on Sunday.

In your email, can you just ask people to respond to let us know if they aren't available on Thursday night? I think that will be really helpful to know for planning purposes. Plus, then we might be able to tailor the times to when those people are available.

And I got two people requesting virtual hours off the bat. I'll wait until later today to see if other folks get back to me, and then I'll see what times will be best for them for office hours.

Ok. Let me know if you hear back about times that would be good for people. I am currently thinking I could do something tomorrow afternoon or possibly Monday after work.

Also, just to confirm, who what time is everyone planning to be at the drop-in session on Thursday night? I remember we talked about taking shifts, but just want to confirm we have coverage for the whole time. If necessary, I should also be able to meet with people the morning of the event, assuming the classroom opens as early as we think it will.

I can be there for any of the 5-9 session, though I'd rather not be there for ALL of it because, dinner.  Happy to cover whichever part is hardest to cover. --ay

I agree with that. I had hoped to be able to eat before it starts at 5, but I now have an all-day activity, so I can cover either the first or the second part, but would love to be able to have dinner at some point in there, particularly since I am hoping to see some family that will be in town for dinner.

Carli, how about I do 5-7 and you do 7-9, thus ensuring coverage + dinner for us both? Everyone else, add yourselves in as you see fit (well, except Jen, if you can be there at the beginning that would be great since you're the one who knows where things are :) --ay

Since I will be dropping other folks off at O'hare on my way to Jen's place (elder gods have mercy on this poor soul), I hope to be at Jen's at 5, and then public transportation will get me at the library around 6:30 if I'm reading the schedules correctly... unless I dare to 1)drive in downtown Chicago and 2)find parking around the library. ;c)

I'll be fine with whatever hours are hardest to cover, too. Sounds like 7-9pm will have less people? Whatever works, I can fill in.

The Library is in Weiboldt Hall.  Water Tower Place is a little over a block away and has multiple dining options. http://www.shopwatertower.com/directory/restaurants-eateries -- Foodlife is a cafeteria-type setup where you can choose multiple stuff and then pay at the end. http://www.foodlifechicago.com/

Right now there are 33 attendees; I should be getting a more final list from ALA any moment now (online registration closed Friday, though on-site is still an option).

Becky is more up on the current state of office hours than I (they'd be online, offered at your convenience; also there's a drop-in help thing on Thursday from 5-9 at Northwestern, which you can help at if that works for you; need not be all 4 hours). --ay

I got a couple of folks emailing me after my email out to the general
list saying that they will not be coming to Thursday's meeting. I
answered a couple of questions from folks who were interested in
coming to the meeting, but once their questions were answered and
their set up working, they gave me a "See you Friday!" message. :cP

As of now only one office hour was scheduled by Coral for one person
who specifically requested hours today. Otherwise, I have taken care
of the problem that the person was having and have not heard from
anyone else in terms of wanting specific office hours.
