Hi, everyone. End of June will be here before we know it, so let's start preparing.
We're making a few changes to it:
1) Since we only have a day, not a day and a half, we'll be asking people to do the setup steps on their own in advance. HOWEVER, we will be providing in-person office hours on Thursday night and virtual office hours in advance; tell us which of these you might be able to do.
2) We're not going to offer the Twitter project (too much dependency hell). Also, for time reasons, we'll only be doing one project. Students will have a choice of ColorWall, Wordplay, and an hour to catch up and get more help. (This means you as TAs will have a choice of which you'd like to staff. :)
3) We'd like to throw in some lightning talks over lunch ("here's what you can do with Python in the real world!"). We're waiting to see if the PSF can provide sponsorship funds so that we can offer lunch; if not, midday will get a bit messy. We'll figure that out if we have to. If you have any lightning talk ideas, that'd be rad!
We will doubtless have more logistical info later (and please ask questions), but for now the key point is that the preconference is Friday, June 28, 8:30am (please be early), in McCormick. Yes, there's coffee and breakfast. --ay
