Codulab codeClass will offer free programming training to students which hold twice a week throughout the school year in selected universities across Nigeria. Our courses are taught by industry professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, and computer science enthusiasts who are committed to technology education in Africa.  Our vetted computer science undergraduate students who are selected as instructors are brought to Codulab training center in Lagos where they are further trained by industry experts, ensuring that students are not only exposed to  up-to-date knowledge, but are also role models and potential mentors in the field.

Depending on universities schedules, codeClass can be held either during the school day or after school.

Our model also ensures that females are well represented in our codeClass. We have reserved a minimum slot of 40% for females who are passionate in writing codes.

A codeClass student goes through our training programme in 2 semesters as outlined below;
  • Foundational codeClass (1st Semester/12 Weeks)
This project-based course in web development introduces students to the field of computer science and builds the foundational skills necessary for them to be successful in subsequent courses on other topics. Students build a series of web-based Javascript programs in this course. Additionally, we begin to teach students industry best practices. For example, students must learn to use version control systems, how to work in teams, and how to debug programs.

  • Advanced codeClass (2nd Semester/12 Weeks)
In our second semester course, students take a deeper dive into web programming and learn advance Javascript concepts and stacks such as Nodejs. We start the course with a review of the concepts learned during our Foundations Course, and then begin teaching students client server interaction and databases.

Hi Ibrahim,

Well done, i would like if student in 100 level and 200 level can be introduced into this program, i know a lot of them wont be willing to learn but then we can motivate them, maybe by organizing a seminar that would bring people who recently graduated from school with programming experience.

This might not be done anytime soon but with 2 to 3 months prep we can do it, but for now you can bring them together to take this opportunity.

Regards

GSC wants to have a slot in 100 orientation program so I think it will be nice to approach them to use the opportunity to reach out to the 100 level students,  also note that all of them are getting FutA branded tab compulsory.
Cheers.
Tomiwa.
