Kashmiri Pandits United Forum Regd. (KPUF ) held its annual function “Meet Your Bright Stars-2009” at Deputy Speakers Hall, constitution Club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi on Sunday 5th of July 2009.

Mr Ajay Maken, Hon able minister for State, Ministry of Home Affairs was the chief guest at the occasion.

The function was held to felicitate the meritorious students of the Kashmiri Pandits in the recently declared CBSE examinations.

KPUF had invited applications from all the students of the NCR and Delhi immediately after the results through various community journals, area welfare KP organizations and e-mails and had received overwhelming response from all the quarters. The screening committee of KPUF short listed 40 students, 20 from each 10th and 12th standards that were publicly honoured.  

All the students with their parents attended the glittering function. Curious grandparents of some the students had also come to witness public felicitation of their grandchildren.

The programme was meticulously moderated jointly by the famous TV/AIR couple, Sh. Upender Khashu and Smt Girja Wattal.

Sh. Bansi Razdan, General Secretary of the organisation welcomed the chief guest present in the function and also the meritorious students and their parents.

Thanking Mr Maken to have spared enough time for the occasion, Sh. Sanjay Wali, President KPUF hailed the achievements of these budding bright stars and expressed hope that the future of the community and the nation was safe in their hands. He said that the people who have become refugees in their own land are producing a breed of intelligent people for the service of the nation. Mr Wali requested these young leaders of tomorrow to be helpful to each other and to the lesser privileged lot of the community and appealed them to try to tie the naught in their own community as the number of the community was dwindling fast. The president also said that his executive will shortly prepare a paper on the socio- cultural rehabilitation of the community for consideration and necessary action by the Hon able minister.

Mr. Wali thanked Mr. Sunil Shekdher, community leader and former president Kashmiri Samiti Delhi for extending his support to the programme.. He also thanked Sh. Nagarjuna Ganju a well known Social Activist for the services he renders to the Community wards in the field of admission in the professional colleges from last five years. The president also named the cross section of the community activists who had sent their best wishes and congratulation massages to the students.

All the students shot listed by the KPUF screening committee were honoured with the presentation of medals by the chief guest, the KPUF executive and the distinguished guests present at the occasion.

Mr. Maken applauded the academic achievement of the meritorious students and hailed the organisation for conducting such student encouraging programmes. The chief guest said that he himself was a refugee and Delhi was a place that provided ample opportunity to its entire people. Mr. Maken added that who knows that some of the young students who are the budding leaders of tomorrow may become the future Home Minister or the Prime Minister of Nation.

Mr. P. L. Razdan Vice President, conveyed the vote of thanks on behalf of the organisation.

All the students, distinguished guests, parents, and others who participated in the function highly admired the organisers of this function and looked forward for more such programmes from the KPUF.

The function concluded with a delicious high tea in the lawns of the constitution club were lot of bonhomie was seen among the acquaintances, parents and the students.
