Has anybody been tried to install the "more creatures" mod to minecraft?

I have found a link that seems to show how to install the mod on a Mac for version 1.5.2, and followed the basic idea of that in Linux... I am able to get the forge mod, GUIAPI and custom spawner installed, but when it comes to the actual "more creatures" mod (adds a bunch of animals), it stalls during startup.

I will include links for installing on 1.5.2...

Here is a link showing how to do it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mUiwBhGBvs

Here is the link to the download links (4 files... forge, guiapi, custom spawner & mocreatures for 1.5.2):

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/81771-152-mo-creatures-v523-with-raccoons-ants-mini-golems-silver-skeletons-and-more-fish/

In the video he goes about taking the downloaded zip files, opening them and then re-zipping/compressing them before putting them into the minecraft folders (./minecraft  coremods, mods)... I don't know if he is doing this to deal with some possible line terminator conflicts between the windows world and Mac/Linux or what.

Anyway... any comments?

Brad

I'd highly suggest looking into the FeedTheBeast Modpack. It automates the inclusion of many  mods, and Mo Creatures may be in there. http://feed-the-beast.com/

I haven't looked at it in a while though.

Thanks for the tip, Pat.  I really thought I was hot on the tracks of it... understood the new launcher, showed my 11 yo how deleting the .minecraft folder contents and then selecting 1.5.2 would rebuild the directory...  and then got 3 of 4 of the added mods to show up.

I will have to look at it again to see if the modloader (forge) might make any distinction between a zip archive and a jar file...

Pat,

Feed the Beast is a big hit... Installs itself and down loads the minecraft version... Lots of cool stuff... Portal guns, hydra monsters...  The kids like it.
