ADG Gurus,

I'm shopping for a mixed signal oscilloscope for use with microcontroller and remote control hobby projects.

Does anybody here have an opinion of the Owon MSO8102T or the Rigol DS1102D (or of those brands in general)?  Are there any other products I should look at?  I'm open to PC-based solutions if they offer comparable performance and lower price.

I'm looking for dependable "adequate" functionality at a low price.  Minimums:

* Under $1000 (including necessary accessories such as probes & PC software)
* 2 analog channels at 100 MHz or better
* 8 digital channels
* 2 mV or finer
* V/t cursors
* MaxV, Period, Frequency, Duty Cycle, etc. measurements
* Some modern mechanism for transferring images to a PC (USB cable, USB drive, etc. but not 3.5" floppy)
* Bonus points if multiple digital lines can be displayed as a single bus with a binary/octal/hex value
* Bonus points if compatible with Linux

This is my first time buying a scope (labs at school & work were pre-furbished), so please let me know if I'm overlooking any key parameters.

Thanks guys!

Chris

I bought a bitscope used off of ebay a few years back and it has served me well.  I am pretty sure it meets your list of requirements.  The nice thing about the bitscope is that they seem to have found - in my opinion - the sweet spot of the hardware/software break.  As the software has been updated over the years a lot of great features have been added with no hardware change necessary.

I have a model 310 USB, which is similar to their current model 325 ($695 direct).

Good luck, let us know what you end up!

~John
