Hey all,
Harddrive died, and of course the only one not imaged. It stopped spinning up. Patiently I have tried many things, software etc but it would not spin up. Then I tried the freezer. Still no spin up. The only thing I have not tried is the oven.(I'm wary about it) I have destroyed several old harddrives trying to figure out how they work, and practice on old broken ones and get some experience before working on the important one. Does anybody have a platter removal tool that I could use/ rent??? There are 5 platters so it is not going to be easy.
I have a picture of the inside of my drive the platters. They spin freely until I push the arm lock out of the way and put the heads on the platters. Then it stops spinning, with a bit more than encouragement the platters spin but against their will.
If there is software out there that will make it spin up let me know! Don't want to make an all bad mechanically if it can be fixed with software
any Ideas???
Thanks,
