Rick
I had been on the fence but had just decided at noon that I was going to attend Thursday night.
While I have a negative interest in mini-sumo robots, the 8 week on-line course “Control of Mobile Robots” by Magnus Egerstedt, Georgia Tech, that starts Jan 28, 2012 did catch my eye. The course one-liner is “Learn about how to make mobile robots move in effective, safe, predictable, and collaborative ways using modern control theory.”
If anyone is interested, info on this and other free courses is are www.coursera.org. Unfortunately, I signed up for another course during the same time frame and have trouble handling one course at a time. I took my first course in the fall and they had 40,000 individuals registered for the course.
Topics for future meetings that I am interested in are
- Minimum tools needed for working with SMD’s
- Test equipment requirements
- What people have as “basement” or “prototyping” electronics workbenches
- Sources for purchase of one and two’s rather than thousands of parts
- Presentations on electronics technologies, development boards, etc.
