Hey Onscreeners!

Sorry I haven’t sent out an official one of these newsletters since last March, other than a couple updates. 2013 was a pretty huge year for movies. In fact we stayed busy pretty much through the end of the year.

Well, it turns out 2014 is going to be even bigger. Usually the big summer movies begin in May, but last year they kicked off in April with the Tom Cruise vehicle Oblivion, and this year already we are seeing big blockbuster releases like 300 Rise of an Empire, Need For Speed and Noah being released in March.

In addition the summer movie season is getting pushed further into the fall with September bringing us Denzel Washington in The Equalizer and the claymation animated feature The Boxtrolls from the people who made Coraline and ParaNorman.

And of course we can’t ignore the huge movies coming during the main summer months such as The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, 22 Jump Street, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Maleficent, Hercules, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the much hyped Guardians of the Galaxy.

For a full list of all of this year’s super blockbusters and their release dates see below.

P.S. Don’t forget the end-of-the-year Holiday Season movies coming up next winter with the next Hunger Games installment in November, Mocking Jay Part 1, and the final Hobbit movie in December, There and Back Again - Huge Mega blockbusters you’ll want to be onscreen for.

Early Bird Exclusive Newsletter Subscriber Discount

Around mid-April I’ll be sending out a postal mailer to all the businesses in SE Alaska letting them know that it’s time to get onscreen for the summer blockbusters. Included on that mailer will be a 10% Discount code they can apply to their summer package order. Well, it is already all set up and ready to go right now, so we thought we’d let those who are subscribed to this email newsletter have the first exclusive go at it.

As you may know, we only have a limited number of spots available to advertise customers on the cinema screens before the advertising cycle gets too long and our guaranteed display rotation of every 8 minutes gets surpassed. That being said, last summer we reached maximum capacity twice during the summer and advertisers had to wait a few weeks for the next opening available, which meant a few customers missed out on the huge Man of Steel and Pacific Rim premieres. Now is the time to sign up and be guaranteed your reserved spot for your business to be seen on the big screen when these huge summer attractions arrive.

Use promo code SUMMER14 to take 10% off when placing your order. You must sign up for a minimum of four weeks, but you still get four bonus weeks when you sign up for at least 16 weeks, six bonus weeks for at least 30 weeks and eight bonus weeks for an 11 month package. 1 month = 4 weeks. Offer expires July 31, 2014.

STUDY: Onscreen Advertising = Most Effective Advertising

Arbitron Inc, a media information and consumer research company, in conjunction with the National Association of Theater Owners and the Cinema Advertising Council, did a market research study examining the effective use of advertising in the traditional media including television, radio, newspaper, outdoor, internet, as well as cinema advertising. There are some great findings determined in the study that shows cinema audiences do not mind the advertising that is part of their cinema experience. Americans feel movie advertising is more acceptable than advertising on the Internet. Cinema advertising also delivers traditionally hard-to-reach but highly desirable demographic groups. More than 60% of cinema audiences are in their seats 10 minutes or more ahead of their movie, and nearly all remember specific ads they saw during the cinema pre-show advertising. For more key findings read the study.
