As much as I wanted some more Weird War 2 stuff, this wasn't it. When it was about the stupid Nazis and their project the movie was far more what I wanted. Mad Science and Camp. When we were with the Americans, man out mean couple are boring as fuck and the Sarge is an annoying dickhead.
Also the parts with the Americans looked really modern. I get budget and all that but I kept thinking "Oh we are in 2010 now?" Nope. The Nazi stuff was so goofy and over the top I didn't think it looked like 1944, it looked like a Savage Worlds module.
This film feels like it was written by someone whose entire knowledge of World War 2 comes from what he or she was told by someone that read the Wikipedia entry on WWII a week earlier. The film has incredibly clumsy racism and sexism that is so outdated and silly it became a curiosity throughout the film.
Directed by Charles Band, who gave us that god awful Puppet Master: The Legacy 9 years earlier. But the thing is, whenever Charles Band makes a really disappointing or even a really bad movie, he almost always makes up for that some time later with a fairly decent or even a really good movie! I think Charles Band did a pretty good job with Puppet Master X: Axis Rising! Unlike Puppet Master: The Legacy, Puppet Master X: Axis Rising was an actual movie! And I had fun with it!
The Nazi Woman Puppet can shoot bullets out of her breast (because of course she can) and the Good Woman Puppet can vomit blood sucking leeches. So how do they fight? By pulling each others hair and rolling on the ground, of course
