Change Your Latitude 2020 Race Cancelled
We are sad to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Change Your Latitude - 57° North Open Water Challenge.
After many conversations with our support partners and volunteers, race organizers had to make the hard decision to cancel this year's events. It has become clear that the uncertainties due to COVID19 pandemic response and community health protection measures, organizing the event still carried too much risk. While most restrictions around travel within and to Alaska have been lifted, large gatherings of people and the necessary resources to keep our swimmers safe just wasn’t in our community’s or your best interest. We feel this is the best and safest decision for us all.
We are really bummed out. There just isn’t another event like Change Your Latitude… and hosting awesome swimmers from around the world will be a great loss for us!
For 2020 registrants we are offering the following options. Please email us your preference and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Refund of registration fees: BBSC will send you a refund check and we really hope that you will consider joining us in 2021!
Deferral to 2021: Please register for your deferral here: additional information will be sent early next year
Donate registration fee to BBSC: Thank you for your support to BBSC!
Canceling this event will have a large impact for the Baranof Barracudas Swim Club as it has served as a major fundraiser and opportunity for swimmers like you to support your love of swimming and our BBSC kids.
Again, we want to say thank you all for your amazing support, and enthusiasm year after year for Change Your Latitude - 57° North Open Water Challenge and the Baranof Barracudas Swim Club. While we are extremely sad that we could not offer the "live" 2020 event in Sitka, we are very much looking forward to hosting you in 2021! ... It will once again be epic!
