no echo in sbt console? 1.1-M1

I'm a scala and sbt newbie and I'm trying to use the sbt console to run the sample apps.  The console works fine, but the terminal echo is off - I don't see the text that I type.

Any suggestions?

You need to install the 0.7.6 SBT runner

I find this advice does not work for me. My build.properties:

Victor, what exactly do you mean by "install the 0.7.6 runner"?

you need to download sbt-launcher-0.7.6.RC0.jar and use that.
