Hi Luis!

In the master we have changed our remoting layer, and it seems that
the configuration of some of the samples have been not updated. I
opened a ticket for this issue:
https://www.assembla.com/spaces/akka/tickets/2906-update-samples-to-work-with-the-new-remoting

If you don't plan to hack Akka itself, I recommend using the latest
stable release: http://typesafe.com/stack/downloads/akka

If you want to hack on master, I recommend watching the ticket, it
should be fixed soon.

Happy Hakking,

What are the changes in the remoting layer, just out of curiosity?

Hi Evan!

It is a complete reimplementation of the remoting layer which is based on actors, and totally lockless. It also features a new Transport SPI that enables people to implement different drivers, so they can use whatever protocol/technology they want, not just the bundled ones. It is now also possible to use different transports at the same time to talk to different actor systems, although this particular feature might be removed if we find it braking some of the underlying assumptions.

I am pretty sure that there will be a nice blog post on letitcrash.com about the details :)
