As a global leading video surveillance manufacturer, Uniview dedicates to provide better products and better services for global distributors, system integrators and installers. JVSG, a developer of video surveillance tools and software, is professional on helping the project manager to quickly and effectively design the video surveillance system.
Print or export your project to PDF. Copy your calculations, drawings and 3D mockups to MS Word, Excel, Visio or other software to create an excellent project IP Video System Design Tool includes a field of view calculator, lens focal length, CCTV storage and bandwidth calculators, megapixel camera resolution calculator and many other CCTV tools so you can design a video surveillance system quickly, easily and professionally.
This software offers CAD-like design functionality without a steep learning curve. The Design Tool allows for anything from simple overhead views, to complex 3D models to help explore exactly what the system will capture once installed. Designers consistently tell us how this tool helps them better educate users of the system and set proper expectations for performance, as well as reduce callbacks or move/add/change orders from frustrated customers.
This software helps planning security camera placement. IP Video System Design Tool includes CCTV storage, bandwidth and field of view calculators, lens focal length and pixel density calculator and many other CCTV tools, so users can design a video surveillance system quickly, easily and professionally.
On Field of View and Lens Focal Length tab you can use built-in lens calculator to calculate the CCTV lens focal length, camera field of view, pixel density at specified distance and clearly see areas of identification (red), recognition (yellow), detection (green) and monitoring (blue) on the drawing.
To calculate the CCTV angle of view or lens focal length, you need to know some parameters of the installation. If you need to calculate the CCTV focal length, you should specify the following parameters:
To calculate network bandwidth of your CCTV cameras and get the required storage space for video archives you need to add camera types and specify some parameters of your security camera installations:
JVSG is an IP Video System Design Tool that can digitally render your ideal camera setup. This tool can help with systems integration in camera technology by demonstrating both two and three dimensional layouts that can describe the field of view given the model and position of a camera.
It doesn't do as much as for calculations as the VideoCAD app, but it's pretty powerful and easy to use. You can also get the iPad version and edit layouts on your iPad as you're walking around a site with a customer.
Now THAT'S a cool idea. I'd love to see an "augmented reality" version that would let you automatically embed photos from the built-in camera. Imagine holding the iPad/tablet up in the approximate camera position you want, then have it digitally zoom to show the FOV you'd get with the particular camera settings!
It's what I use but it's missing some pretty important things. There is no way to export (not that I have found) the Site Plan to image file that I can give or show the customer. Only option is to copy the image to the clip board which is the section of the image that is in view at the time you copy it which creates a low quality image.
Another feature I would like to see would be being able to add tabs. I have a customer with multiple site drawings (one for inside the building and one for exterior parking) that way I don't have to create a whole separate project for the same customer site.
Well, you CAN (at least in the current version) right-click the plan and go "Save image" - skips the clipboard step. But you're right, export functions are extremely limited, and if you're working on a smaller screen (netbook), you end up with a very small picture.
Ya you are correct you can right click but it only saves what you have in the view of your plan. If you want to save the whole image of the plan you must shrink the image down so it fit's into that small area of your screen before you save the image.
Pretty retarded but for what it is I won't complain cause it works. For the online price of $195 I thought I may have a few more features like the whole plan save to image so I can use it with customers I mean it is afterall the business license I purchased. I should have just bought the residential version. Hopefully they use my money to make these small improvements.
This must be the right one for you. CCTV Design Tool helps finding optimal positions for video surveillance cameras. The software helps to calculate the focal length for 3rd-party CCTV lens. Additionally it calculates disk the storage space required to store video archives in digital video surveillance systems. CCTV Design Tool helps you to save your time and to design video surveillance system more professionally.
Hey, if you're taking suggestions... this is maybe a little beyond the scope of a single upgrade now, but it would be really cool to have design software that would do what I'm doing now in a separate process:
Yeah but for example the Ipad and my experience with it, its got a slow response, limited mobile OS, screen gets really dirty easily (being a touch screen), hard to handle (slips around easily), even with the pop up keys its still not anything like a real keyboard. With a laptop one can just add a number of USB clip on cameras and any other devices they like, and since its a full desktop OS they can use their regular game, video, or office software on it as well, plus the price of the tablets are much more. With a netbook one can carry it with 2 small fingers (least with mine). I guess some like the tablets but myself personally, I cant stand them and never could, slow touch response and digital keyboard alone vex me enough not to use them. My first touch device was an HP Ipaq BTW. I dont even use a laptop for any real work, unless it at least has a mouse and keyboard attached.
You suggestions are really welcomed! Floor plan/Site plan export to PDF is already in our plans. We can add a PDF import function and a possibility to remove unnecessary elements. Adding a link to image in PDF is really interesting feature! If you have more ideas just drop me a line to max (at) jv sg.com

VIVOTEK has integrated with JVSG (IP Video System Design Tool) to make the design of professional video surveillance systems quick and easy. With the IP Video System Design Tool, users can calculate the precise lens focal length and viewing angles of all cameras in seconds, and check the field of view of each camera.
This allows discovery of any dead zones and increases the security of your premises through the use of 2D and 3D modeling. This smart tool can also obtain more accurate estimations of network bandwidth, storage and perform many other handy functions to enhance your surveillance system design.
JVSG IP Video System Design Tool is an essential software for managing and optimising IP video surveillance systems. In detail: It increases the efficiency of security systems by reducing costs and identifying the best camera positions. Calculate the precise focal length of the camera lens, viewing angles and pixel density (PPM / PPF) in seconds. Check the identification , recognition , detection and monitoring zones of each camera on a site map. Minimise dead zones to increase the security level of the premises using 2D and 3D modelling. Get estimates of the required network bandwidth and calculate the HDD storage space required for video archives. Upload floor plans or plans from JPEG, PNG, PDF or TIFF files and import AutoCAD (Pro) DWG drawings Print or export your design to PDF. Copy your calculations, drawings and 3D models to MS Word, Excel, Visio or other software to create a high-quality project visualisation. You can also calculate both network bandwidth and storage space for 30 camera resolutions and different compression methods, including H.264, H.265, Motion JPEG and MPEG-4. The IP Video System Design Tool allows the system designer to find optimal FPS and compression to match LAN capabilities, and automatically calculates the required HDD storage space. IP Video System Design Tool includes a field of view calculator, lens focal length, CCTV storage and bandwidth calculators, pixel density and resolution calculator and many other CCTV tools so that users can design a video surveillance system quickly, easily and professionally.
