zend_lucene

Hey everybody,
i saw that the zend_lucene is being incorporated to akelos by Bermi.
That is great news in general and for us in particular, we were
thinking of doing so for our own project.

Bermi, any idea when would that be merged with the framework ?
Any idea on how we could help in that proces ?

Hey Tarek,

Glad to see you around.

I'm looking to implement something similar to acts_as_ferret (
http://projects.jkraemer.net/acts_as_ferret/ and
http://www.railsenvy.com/2007/2/19/acts-as-ferret-tutorial ) in Rails,
but using Zend_Lucene instead.

This will be a plugin, but it is not implemented yet as you can see at
http://trac.akelos.org/browser/branches/bermi/plugins/acts_as_lucene

If you're interested in helping me with this one, I can create a new
branch for the plugin and give you access to the repository so we can
join our efforts. A sort-of-roadmap through the dev wiki can help us
coordinating the work.

Although I'm more into Xapian than Lucene (morally, that is), I can only
add my voice to Tarek's to say that this is great news. Keep up the good
