The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation, is recruiting for a Wildlife Biometrician to be based at the Interior and Eastern Arctic Alaska Headquarters, adjacent to Creamer's Field State Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The department is seeking an individual with an interest in wildlife management and conservation with vision to be part of an innovative and skilled biometrics team, and who aspires to solve scientific problems and address conservation issues. This position provides biometric assistance to mid and upper level wildlife biologists to support Wildlife Conservation staff and projects in the division’s Interior and Eastern Arctic region. This position works closely with regional and area-based game management or research issues and offers a rare opportunity to provide biometric support to a diverse array of wildlife projects in beautiful and remote areas of Interior and Eastern Arctic Alaska. The wildlife species associated with these projects include muskox, caribou, Dall sheep, moose, bison, grizzly and black bear, wolf, as well as furbearers such as marten, beaver, river otter, red and arctic fox, wolverine and lynx. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to participate in wildlife field work with the richness of game species managed by the region.
