Hi,
It was really a joy to see an article about the plight of the residents in the 3 complexes.

I am living in Akankha for the last one year , I was the second resident in Akankha. I would like to point out a few things about the way Bengal Shelter has been conducting business.

I am not sure if you are aware , Akankha was the first complex to begin construction but unfortunately it was not been able to complete it yet.

I was surprised to hear that BS was ready to give possession six months back. I just wanted to highlight the true picture, since a picture speaks a thousand words. I am sending you the pictures of Akankha as it stands today.
It is upto you to decide. You can send someone to get a first hand account. Infrastructure has been a problem but when the complexes around Akankha can give possession almost 2 yrs back, what is the problem with BS.
This has been the story for the last 1 yr, the story of developers citing various reason to cover-up their backs. We the common people are helpless as we do not have godfathers to protect our interests.
If you recall, there was no street lights earlier, now we have street lights installed. I am not saying that all is well that first do your bit and then point fingers at others.
You can write better since you deal with it. Can you do a story on Akankha ?
I would request others in Akankha group to share their views with Telegraph Metro @ ttm...@abpmail.com

Thanks Sukanto... its really tough to unjderstand the ground reality
from far.

Have booked an apartment in Krishnachura on the Feb'2005 and still
counting. On my recent enquiries BS suggested I can take hand over..
is this the way they want to give handover after 6.5 years of wait? I
think we should all send a joint letter to BS now.. I mean legal
letter atleast to start with. Can we all meet at some time and have a
first round of meeting together?

I know its much easier to ask questions than to actually do - As most
of the people are in Facebook, it will be good to get a group there
and organize an event to meet. What do you all think?

Looking forward to your responses.

Warm Regards,
Satyajit

Hi,

Kakosso Poribedona....4 to 5 families out of 120 responded whenever we requested to meet together and raise concerns over all odds we have been facing since last 4 years. None responded except few lines of emails. Now BS is asking more money for an incomplete ,unstructured non livable apartments still no protests no complains except few. Better to pay and be ready for onslaught.

Hi,

I am also like all of you !!!!!

However I have one suggestion to involve the financial institution in this movement as they also have a responsibility with their involvement.

Can anyone share any legal and expert idea on it.

Regards,

Bipllaw

Hello my fellow residents of Akankha,

I have a flat at HIG tower 1. I relly don't know the recent progress
on the complex as I work outside of Kolkata. But, I follow this group
closely and try to see the progress in your eyes. I am with you all
and can help or support you all in any shape or form.

I think for someone like me, it may not be possible to be there
physically, even if I want to. But, if we can get some sort of
eletronic signature for the letter to BS, I think we can probably get
more people. I think we can also plan for some online meeting (like
gotomeeting or webex) along with the physical meeting. Please let me
know if you need any help, I can try to setup the online meeting etc.

I would probaly start with getting more and more people first who can
put their stake for the same cause. We have to get a critical mass to
shake up BS. My first bet is probaly who are already staying in
Akankha (maybe 5% of total flats?) and all who are involved via this
group.

Can we start counting?
1. Shantanu Dey
2. ...

Thoughts or ideas?

Regards,
Shantanu

My name is Bijoy k Dash. I have also booked a flat in the year 2005
and still counting the days to get the apartment handed over to me by
Bengal Shelter.
Recently, I had visited their office in salt lake and asked about the
handover. While discussing, i got shocked to hear from BS that i have
to pay some extra amout for extra apce in the apartment and some
arrears.

Instead of BS paying the penalty for delayed handover(@ iNR 7500,
which they had mentioned in their booklet), how can they ask for
additional charges. They are trying exploit individual apartment
owners. So, I urge, lets get united and voice our opinion against BS.
Lets form a group e.g. Akankha owners in a socialising network site
e.g. orkut ot facebook and take it from there.

Hi,

I think it is high time we come together and form a society. This can
be the forum where we highlight all the issues and then the society
takes this up with the builders. We should start this process asap.

Let me know your ideas and suggestions.

Chandan

Hi,

Last month we went to Kolkata for a couple of days and visited
Akankha. We saw that a few families are already staying there. We also
noticed that there are months to go before the property is complete by
any standards.

Lately I don't post anything in this group because we are extremely
frustrated and confused the way things have gone. We booked this
property - a penthouse flat on the 22nd floor pooling together all our
liquid investments and topping it with a high-ticket bank loan. First
of all, it has been five years and the property is not yet complete,
due to many reasons, including incomplete infrastructure. Secondly,
when we measured our flat, the carpet area came much less than the
indicated area in the brochures, all flatowners felt the same. Now
Bengal Shelter says, that the super built up area is more than what
was agreed upon so we have to pay extra to take possession. We do not
know what to do and I am even afraid to ask how much excess area
should we pay for - we don't know where to get the money from if it
comes to that extent. Thirdly with the new government denotifying
acquisition of further land for New Town, it will be no longer what we
had dreamed this area would be. If it just gets converted into an
urban slum that like many other places of Kolkata are, what is the
point of buying a duplex/ penthouse in this area?

I wish we had actually bought in the cluster where Ambuja/ Shrachi/
DCL/ Peerless have their residential towers. That part at least looks
complete.

Please add me to any initiative that you believe can collective
influence the builder/ administration/ civic bodies. I'll be willing
to participate.

Thanks,
Santanu De
