You should try and get a hold of Professor Kurt Colvin for both CPACC and Alaflieg. He was a major contributor in these clubs!

I don't know the status of these clubs, since Kurt Colvin was the main engine behind starting them.  About the Akaflieg, however:  We started this some 4 or 5 years ago, inspired by the Akaflieg Munich, where Cal Poly has a partnership with the Munich University of Applied Science.  Cal Poly seemed like a likely candidate for starting an Akaflieg in the U.S.  This was to be a club started and run by students with our help.  But I don't think it kept going.  Too bad.  It was and is still a good idea, and the Akaflieg Munich would be very interested in cooperation and collaboration with us, if we ever got one persistently off the ground.  One can look at what the Akaflieg Munich has done over the  years at http://www.akaflieg.vo.tu-muenchen.de/.  I've been to Königsdorf, their main airport, several times over the years.  The interest from their side is still there.
