First Akaflieg member to Solo

Ok, since Kevin won't toot his own horn, I'll do it for him.  On Saturday afternoon, Kevin joined the ranks of solo glider pilots after Harold turned him loose in the 2-33.  I'm particularly excited because this marks the first Akaflieg-SLO student to solo under what will hopefully be a long and successful partnership.  In the long standing aviation tradition, Kevin had the back of his shirt cut off as a mark of no longer needing an instructor riding along behind him.

I hope that Kevin is just the first of many to have a perfectly good shirt destroyed at the hands of our instructors.

Congratulations Kevin, it's fitting that with all the work you've put into Akaflieg that you get the honor of being the first to Solo.
