Good News/Bad News

Hi J and everyone from the SCI support group….

 

I wanted to email you and let you know that I have had some change of plans regarding when I am leaving the state.  I know all of you have been planning my going away party for this Saturday and I am so appreciative!!! I have some good news & some bad news.  Please FORGIVE ME IF I AM MESSING UP ANYONE’S PLANS.

 

I’ll try to make the short & to the point.  Basically, Wednesday around 4 pm, I found that the bank in Montana is concerned about giving us a home mortgage since we only have AK income & not MT income.  The lender is working with us to try to make the loan work but I have to continue with gainful employment at PAMC until loan is secured.  That means today, Thursday 6/26, which is supposed to be my last day of work, WILL NOT BE my last day of work!  I have to continue working at PAMC.  I will most likely be in the state another 2 weeks to see if we can get the loan to work.  If we do, great… I will move back to Montana.  If we do NOT, there is a possibility of us staying here permanently.  That is the good news… I will be Alaska for another 1-2 weeks that I was not planning on.

 

The bad news, I need to fly to Texas to see my kids over the weekend and I cannot do my BBQ that we planned.  I AM SO SORRY!!  My kids have been away from me officially for 6 weeks and about the 3 week mark they started falling apart and really missing me.  They have been counting down the days for weeks.  I cannot disappoint them.  I promised I would see them on Sunday & I have to make it happen.  We were supposed to meet in Montana on Sunday but I had to cancel all of our flights because I need to work.  I am going to fly to Texas to see them on Friday, 6/27 and return on Wednesday, June 2.  I have to work Thurs through Wednesday at Providence.    This is the bad news…I won’t be in the state this Saturday to have the BBQ.  AGAIN, I FEEL HORRIBLE CANCELLING! 

 

Please forgive me & again I apologize so much.  My kids really need to see me & I need to see them.  We can do a potluck a different day if you want or we can even have it at our next SCI support group.  I do not want you to think that your efforts are not important to me.  I just didn’t know what to do.  If you want to go ahead and have the get together this Saturday, please do.  I can SKYPE into the celebration.

 

Thanks for understanding.  I am heading into work on my “NOT last day” at PAMC right now & will be catching a plane out of the AK for a few days on Friday.  Please let me know what you want to do about rescheduling.

I'm sorry to hear that Val! I hope you're still able to get everything lined up and move forward with your plans. I know you and your family has been working on this for months. I'm praying for you guys that it all works out. 

I think this Saturday might not just be the best day anyway, since it seemed tough for some to work out with rides and schedules. Plus it wouldn't be the same without you Val! I'm down for trying again next Friday, July 4th, but it depends on everyone else really. I know others likely have prior commitments for the holiday. I'm completely open to do it whenever possible. 

What does everyone else think?

I'm open for whatever works with you everyone else. I think Val has a lot on her plate for the next two weeks, and it looks like that won't work for you guys anyway. Would we just make it as a general SCI group BBQ then?

If so, then how about we go for July 26th (if you're back from Seattle). Does that work?
