Rostering HMH in PS

I've installed an HMH plugin and registered it in PowerSchool. HMH is asking for an "API Key" and "Secret". From the Plugin Management Dashboard on the HMH page, I found the "Client ID" and "Client Secret". These weren't accepted as the key and/or secret, my tech person told me. Does anyone know where to find the API Key and Secret for a plugin like HMH in order to have them roster our students?

Click on the plugin that you installed from HMH inside powerschool and then I think its under configuration.

I had the same problem and ended up having to delete the plugin and reinstall it then it worked using the client id and client secret. Not sure how long ago you installed the plugin but they have released a new version.

Thank you. This was the first time we have installed the HMH plugin so I believe it should be up-to-date. Regardless, I deleted it and reinstalled it but had the same issue. Talking with PowerSchool Support, they assured me that the information under the configuration tab was what I needed. Specifically, that the API Key is the Client ID and the Secret is the Client Secret. After going through that, PowerSchool says that it's an issue on HMH's end. Thanks for the help. We'll see what HMH has to say about it.

No problem... the plugin version I have installed is 3.0.1 incase that helps. HMH was really helpful and got me where I needed to be to add HMH Ed and ThinkCentral to Clever and they finally have the integration capable of rostering both. Hope they get yours sorted out as well.

Hey Todd,

Did you ever have any luck getting the issue sorted? I've only been able to get students to roster and keep getting the error below, had a case open with HMH for going on 2 weeks now. They have updated their plugin and had me install PowerSchool's Universal Rostering plugin but so far no luck.

Unfortunately, we haven't had success rostering through the plugin either. We also have a case open with HMH.

Is this with version 3.0.1 of their plugin? I helped Southwest set that integration up last week and it went relatively smoothly.

Got it sorted incase anyone else is having issues. Yep it is HMH's plugin, they made some changes the other day and released 3.0.2 and that resolved the issue with teachers and classes not being imported.

HMH/Think Central is one of my least favorite 3rd party apps to roster.

 

We still use the four separate file upload. We did it just the other day, got 90 some errors. Uploaded the same data, got 0 errors. Par for the course!

 

At this point we have a query that runs weekly to generate the files, then we upload them. It ain’t perfect, but it is better than nothing.

We've got MHE and HMH both rostering either with their own PS plugin or Clever now, thankfully we've dropped ThinkCentral but they even have that rostering with this plugin now.

We are utilizing McGraw Hill ConnectED, when we purchased that curriculum their integrations team reached out and we discussed what our district utilizes (PowerSchool, Clever, Google, Canvas) then they sent out an invitation via Clever for SSO / Rostering and I set the sharing rules. I looked back through my emails with them and the Clever part went smooth but we also added it to Google and Canvas and those took a bit more doing.

I had them do a data dump to get it integrated as it was set up by someone else prior via csv import and random usernames were assigned prior to us having Clever. Once that's all syncing it was just a matter of assigning texts to courses and Teacher Editions to teachers in the MHE Access portal so that way as kids enroll in courses they get the texts for each course year to year.
