Hello,

I´m a hobby programmer and developed a small desktop application with Java Swing.
Now - I would like to run this application online on a server or in a cloud.
I therefore converted my program with the ajaxswing console.
It worked fine.

Unfortunatly my informatic skills are very limited.
Now..how exactly can I proceed ?
I alread read that there are different options to do so

"One is package it as a WAR along with AjaxSwing and deploy to existing servlet container.
Another one is take AjaxSwing with built-in Tomcat and just copy the whole thing to the server.
Either way you need to be able to FTP to the remote server and run Java processes there."

As I mentioned above , I´m not well skilled in website /online programming.
1.) What exactly do you mean with "package it as a WAR along with Ajaxswing". How exactly can I do this ?
2.) What do you mean with "take AjaxSwing with built-in Tomcat and just copy the whole thing to the server."

These questions probably sound stupid to you, but your answers would help me a lot...
Can you give me some more hints..
I prefer to ask - before spending hours in front of my computer..
I don´t care about the option (cloud/website) , but I would prefer the easiest and fastest way. :)

Thanks in advance

Hi Tam,

Thank you for your interest in our product and apologies for the delay in response.

To run your application you should:

1. Download and unzip Ajaxswing, for example it will be C:\AjaxSwing4.6.1
2. Copy your jar file (let's it be example.jar) into C:\AjaxSwing4.6.1\wcapps\lib
3. Go to C:\AjaxSwing4.6.1\conf and create example.properties file here
4. Add the next content
  • #AjaxSwing properties file
  • #Thu Nov 09 23:58:34 EST 2000
  • agent.appStartClass=MainClass
where MainClass it is a class in your application with main() function

5. Go to C:\AjaxSwing4.6.1\bin, setEnv.bat (if you are using Windows) and setup rem set JAVA_HOME
6. startServer.bat
7. Open localhost:8040/ajaxswing/apps/example in your browser

Be sure to check our User Guide and FAQ as well since most of the common questions have already been answered there.

Hope you enjoy using AjaxSwing.

Have a great day!
